N.J. added 3,600 private sector jobs last month, report says

By Jeff Goldman, NJ.com -- Privately-owned New Jersey businesses added 3,600 jobs in December, a report released Wednesday said.

The ADP Regional Employment report said that while the state had a gain of 4,800 jobs in service-producing industries, it lost 1,200 positions in goods-producing areas.

New Jersey employers showed a gain of 2,500 jobs in professional and business services, but lost 1,200 construction positions.

The state also added 3,600 private-sector jobs in November, according to ADP's projections.

The ADP Research Institute, a unit of Automatic Data Processing, and Moody's Analytics produces monthly estimates of job gains and losses in 29 states and Washington D.C., as part of a broader look into regional hiring. The reports sample payroll data from an anonymous subset of ADP’s roughly 406,000 U.S. business customers, which employ 23 million workers.
